Summary[]

Tenzen Yakushiji groups heads towards Iga Tsubagakure, saying that since now the Kōga knows they are up to something, they need to assassinate Gennosuke Kōga quickly. Tenzen feels something and stops to see Okoi drinking water from the river. Suspecting she may be on the list, they reveal themselves where Tenzen introduces himself and Okoi does too out of courtesy, which makes everyone realizes she was on the list. Tenzen states they were sent by Gennosuke to Kōga Manjidani, but they were badly welcomed and asks Okoi to come back with them to Iga to check on Gennosuke. Instead, Okoi decides to return to Manjidani and Nenki Mino goes after her. He manages to reach her and hit her with his staff, making her fall unconscious. Tenzen tells Nenki to not kill her as they may use her against Gennosuke. Meanwhile, Yashamaru runs towards Iga, thinking the Kōga may have already gotten the scroll and Iga to have been defeated.

Back at Manjidani, Gyōbu Kasumi wants to raid Iga, but Hyōma Muroga explains they can't do that, reminding him that Gennosuke is there and as they let them escape, they would anticipate their attack. Hyōma tells him they will go to Iga, but first need to understand why would Iga attack them during the Anti-War Pact and who stands behind this. Hyōga then suspects the pact may have been nullified and recalls what Gyōbu overheard Tenzen say about Shōgen Kazamachi, believing they had slain him to prevent a message he was carrying. Since they came from the road Shōgen had to come, Gyōbu decides to check that road and Saemon Kisaragi tells him he will come with him.

Yashamaru hears a voice, believing its Tenzen's, while in reality it is Saemon pretending to be Tenzen. He asks Yashamaru why is he returning and Yashamaru believes he can't show himself as Shōgen had killed Tenzen, reveals that he got tricked and his scroll taken. Yashamaru then explains that Ieyasu Tokugawa had nullified the Anti-War Pact and hearing that Saemon gasps and Yashamaru realizes this isn't Tenzen. He immediately realizes Seamon is behind the wall and starts attacking him with his strings. As he manages to catch him, but before he is able to kill him, Gyōbu comes out of the wall grabbing with one hand Yashamaru's hands breaking them and with the other his neck. Yashamaru tries to use the strings on his legs, but seeing it makes Gyōbu break his neck. Gyōbu drops Yashamaru and before his vision goes blank, he sees Hotarubi's butterfly, who then visits Hotarubi and makes her realizes Yashamaru is dead. Saemon thanks Gyōbu for saving him and Gyōbu explains he wanted to keep Yashamaru alive to question for more details, but he didn't leave him a choice.

Akeginu informs Oboro that Tenzen and the rest had returned. Oboro heads towards Gennosuke and tells him the news and also that the messenger she send had also returned and told her that Jōsuke Udono was well. Meanwhile, Nenki had tied up Okoi and Jingorō Amayo informs Tenzen that Gennosuke had been sniffing around, but he guessed who the messengers could be and gave them a warning. Rōsai Azuki comments that since Yashamaru had not returned, they can count him as dead. Seeing Hotarubi staying in the rain, Koshirō Chikuma wonders when they kill Gennosuke if Oboro will feel the same way.

Saemon tells Gyōbu time is essential, so they can't immediately return to Kōga and uses his ability to turn himself into Yashamaru and they head towards Iga. Meanwhile, Rōsai goes to check on Okoi.
