"On Their Own" 「石礫無告 Sekireki mukoku」 is the eleventh episode of Basilisk.
Summary[]
The Kōga Manjidani ninjas discuss the situation and Kagerō guesses that Oboro had betrayed Gennosuke Kōga and invited him to Iga Tsubagakure with the purpose to kill him. Hyōma Muroga states that may be true, but Oboro is little concern right now and believes that the first to learn and plan it out was likely Tenzen Yakushiji. Gyōbu Kasumi wants to attack Iga while they are scared of Gennosuke's dojutsu, but Gennosuke requests Saemon Kisaragi to bring him some ink and apologizes for Okoi. Saemon states that she is a Kōga ninja and was prepared for this, as he leaves, Gennosuke explains that being Iga or Kōga, you are still a person and that he planned to tell everyone that they need to break the shackles of grudge and even if a single Iga manages to see that too, it would have been enough.
Meanwhile at Tsubagakure, Oboro explains what she did to her eyes. Ogen had told her she fear her strange power and that she feels it may bring calamity to Iga and end their ninpo. If a time like that came, she gave her a potion which she can apply on her eyes and they will remain closed for seven days and seven nights. Tenzen is angry that she didn't listen to them and did this to her eyes, but Oboro explains that she can't fight Gennosuke and a time may come that she would break their techniques. And being terrified of that though, she decided to seal her eyes. Just then, Tenzen gets called by a ninja and receives an item they found at Tsubagakure door. They see its the scroll and wonder why Gennosuke would give it. As Koshirō Chikuma's name isn't written off, they realize Gennosuke knew he would live and is cool-headed before Tenzen then reads a letter of challenge from Gennosuke. In the letter, Gennosuke explains he doesn't want to fight and intends to visit Ieyasu and try reason with them and because of that he had returned the scroll. Gennosuke explains he is taking the remaining roster with him and that if he decides to attack Kōga in the mean time, his wrath will fall upon Iga. While he doesn't want to fight, Gennosuke will fight back if attacked and is fine with Tenzen making his trip to Sunpu as a battle between the remaining Iga and Kōga roster. Enraged, Tenzen orders the rest to prepare as they are heading out towards Gennosuke.
Gennosuke group heads Sunpu and Gyōbu wonders if Gennosuke would have the resolve to kill Oboro and decides to go ahead by himself. Later, Saemon and Hyōma speak with Saemon sharing his worry about Kagerō who is deeply in love with Gennosuke. While Gennosuke was engaged to Oboro, she was keeping herself under control, but with the engagement broken, her scent is increasing. Hyōma comments it was the same case with her mother, who at her height of ecstasy, her blissful cries become a breath of death and she would kill the man she love. Danjō had told Hyōma it was time they find a man for her, but Saemon wonders how many men would die before she have a child, but since she is beautiful, they would be plenty of candidates. Kagerō visits Gennosuke in his room and wonders about the road tomorrow. She then hugs him, but her poison starts affecting him. He uses his dojutsu on her to see what she is doing and poisons her a bit too. Kagerō explains she wants to die with him, but Gennosuke tells her to die after they had slain the Iga roster. Kagerō explains she can't kill women with her technique and wonders if Gennosuke will kill Oboro, which he confirms. Kagerō then decides she will kill all of the Iga men. Gennosuke notices a snake behind her and manages to kill it, but as he is affected by Kagerō's poison, he can't move well and the snake manage to spit something at him. Saemon and Hyōma rush into the room and Gennosuke tells them his eyes have been sealed. Hotarubi and Nenki Mino are watching from nearby and Nenki comments that was easier than they expected, but as he can't see Gyōbu, he realizes he must plan to attack Iga and tells Hotarubi to go and warn them. As she leaves, she manages to trick Saemon and Kagerō to chase her. Nenki then goes to Hyōma and Gennosuke, telling them he will kill them and mocking them for not being able to see him. Gennosuke then tells Hyōma to look and that makes Nenki mock him even more. Hyōma then open his eyes and reveals he has same dōjutsu as Gennosuke, killing Nenki.
